Thousands of passengers have started flocking to different ports in the country as the expected exodus of travelers begins over the weekend for the long All Saints’ Day holiday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Saturday.

It was followed by Central Visayas with 6,877 passengers and Western Visayas with 4,098 travelers.

The Malacañang has declared October 31, Tuesday, a special non-working day, and November 1, Wednesday, as special non-working holiday in observance of the All Saints’ Day.

Ports officials said most of the travelers probably filed a leave of absence for Monday—October 30, which is a regular working day—to experience the very long weekend. /jpv
