Mandaue HOLDUP

A woman who arrived home in a taxi Sunday night was held up by two armed men on a motorcycle as she disembarked in front of her house in Palm Hills Subdivision, barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Emma Seville, a nutritionist at Cebu City Hall, was robbed of two cell phones and P2,500 cash.

The incident took place about 9:30 p.m.

napolcom warns of gifts

THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM-7) warned government employees especially police officers not to accept gifts to avoid administrative sanctions.

Lawyer Homer Mariano Cabaral, NAPOLCOM-7 director, cited Republic Act 3019, which prohibits government employees as well as police officers from soliciting gifts.

Accepting gifts is grave misconduct especially for the police officers, Cabaral said.

Dead woman in wharf

An unidentified woman in her early 40s was found floating lifeless in the seawaters of Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City yesterday.

A speedboat operator discovered the woman’s body and alerted the Philippine Coast Guard.

Police said the woman was wearing a dark blue T-shirt, black shorts, and a pink watch. She had shoulder-length hair and fair skin.

A bruise appeared in the right side of the woman’s forehead. An autopsy will be conducted. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

Talisay stabbing

A 42 year-old store owner who refused to sell beer to a tipsy neighbor was stabbed in Camella Homes, barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, last Sunday.

Cenon Yabut sustained wounds in his trunk and arm.

Police said Juniberto Toquero Albios, 32, wanted to buy a bottle of beer from Yabut’s store but the owner refused, saying he was already drunk.
