5 killed, 9 hurt in Tarlac collision

CAPAS, Tarlac – Five people were killed, while 9 others were injured when a passenger jeepney collided with a truck at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday along the road between Estrada village here and Tarlac City, police said.

The truck, which was carrying meat to sell in Baguio City, struck the south-bound jeepney along the Manila North Road. The truck then crashed into the municipal boundary arch of Capas, scattering meat all over the road.

Jeepney passengers Bernardo Miclat, Adrian Pabustan, and Juvlyn Cariaga were pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. A fourth passenger, 44-year-old Jennifer Vinluan, died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Tarlac City.

The crash injured passengers Ma. Fatima Capul, Cristina David, Adrian Pabustan, Jennifer Vinluan, Aurismo Lavarias Valiente, Giovani Bulaon, John Dexter Domingo, Dante Basa and Jun Dizon.

All of the passengers were employees of the International Wiring System (Phils) Corp. and were headed home in the jeepney driven by Ferdinand Ambrocio, who survived the accident.

The collision killed the truck helper, Ponciano Quebec. Its driver, Camlon Mangila, 30, was in serious condition and had to undergo surgery.
