American pedophile nabbed at NAIA

Authorities are now preparing a criminal complaint against an American pedophile, who was arrested upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last week.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said 58-year-old Robin Hoyt Alderman was accosted by members of the country’s Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU) led by Intelligence Officers Erwin Ortanez and Bienvenido Castillo last Thursday at the NAIA 2 terminal, following a tip from United States (US) authorities.

Alderman had just arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam when he was intercepted by BI agents at the immigration arrival area of the airport terminal.

BI Chief Jaime Morente said they earlier received information from the US embassy that Alderman would be visiting Manila with the intention to meet his underage victims, whom he had contacted via the Internet while he was abroad.

“His conversations with the would-be victims allegedly suggested that Alderman was going to meet them when he comes here and have sexual intercourse with them,” Morente noted.

BI port operations chief Marc Red Mariñas disclosed that members of the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) joined BI agents in carrying out the operation against Alderman.

Mariñas said the PNP-WCPC operatives immediately took Alderman into custody and brought him to Camp Crame where he is undergoing investigation.

The WCPC is the PNP’s lead unit in cases of violence against women and children (VAWC), and trafficking in persons (TIP).

BI acting spokesman Grifton Medina said that aside from a criminal case, Alderman would be subjected to deportation proceedings for being an undesirable alien.

But Medina said the Alderman would only be deported if the charges against him are dropped, or if he has already served his sentence if convicted.           /kga
