Pack your umbrellas and rain gear this weekend as typhoon Paolo (international name Lan) and a low pressure area (LPA) spotted off Palawan would continue to bring scattered showers and overcast skies across the country, the state weather bureau’s Friday advisory showed.
Paolo, however, is expected to exit the Philippine are of responsibility (PAR) by Sunday morning, as it moves slowly at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) north northwest towards Japan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also said.
Metro Manila as well as Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Central Luzon and most parts of Mindanao would experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Zamboanga Peninsula, and Caraga (Agusan, Dinagat Islands, Surigao) would have cloudy skies with dispersed to widespread rains and thunderstorms, while the rest of Luzon would encounter partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa said that Paolo, which packed maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, was last located 870 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Meanwhile, the LPA was last seen 135 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan, according to Pagasa. /kga
