Trangia, Solano, other Atio hazing suspects appear at Senate probe

Two prime suspects in the death of University of Santo Tomas (UST) law student Horacio “Atio” Castillo III showed up on Wednesday at the Senate’s resumption of its probe on the incident.

It was John Paul Solano’s second appearance and the first time for Ralph Trangia at the hearing of the Senate committees on public order and dangerous drugs chaired by Senator Panfilo Lacson. The probe resumed its hearing at 9:30 a.m.

Aside from Solano and Trangia, UST Civil Law Dean Nilo Divina also attended. Castillo’s parents, Carminia and Horacio Jr., were also present.

In an executive session conducted after the Senate’s first hearing, Solano named the members of the Aegis Juris fraternity who were allegedly present during its initiation rites, where Castillo was believed to have been killed.

Solano promised to execute a written affidavit and tell the truth, but he has yet to issue his statement. /cbb
