The weather bureau is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao which may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Monday.
In a weather update on Sunday, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said it was possible the LPA which was sighted 1,280 kilometers east of Mindanao, outside the PAR, might develop into a tropical cyclone, which would then be named “Paolo.”
In its 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. yesterday, Pagasa, however, said it would be the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which would continue to affect southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao Monday.
Due to the ITCZ, Mindanao and the regions of Mimaropa and western Visayas are expected to experience scattered rains with thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience cloudy skies apart from isolated occasionally heavy rain mostly in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.
