Some cities have declared suspension of classes on Monday (October 16) because of the scheduled nationwide transport strike in protest of the government’s looming jeepney modernization program.

San Fernando City, Pampanga, all classes
In Legazpi City, The local government of Albay has suspended classes scheduled for Monday in private and public schools and work in government and private offices in anticipation of the transport strike.
The suspension, however, does not include institutions engaged in peace and order, health and social services.
Albay governor Al Francis Bichara, in an advisory, said free ride will be offered for those who might get stranded and commuters in the province.
