Signal No. 1 was raised over parts of Northern Luzon as Tropical Depression Odette slightly intensified, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The tropical cyclone continued to move westward over the Philippine Sea and will bring moderate to heavy rain within its 350-kilometer diameter, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The storm signal was raised over Cagayan, including the Babuyan group of Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Ifugao.

Odette is also affecting the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, which may experience cloudy skies with light to heavy rain and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

The storm was last tracked 730 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 65 kph. It was moving west at 26 kph.

Meanwhile, Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers mostly in the afternoon and evening, the weather bureau added.

Sea travel remained risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon due to the northeasterly surface windflow enhanced by Odette, Pagasa said. /cbb
