LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Another solar power farm in Pangasinan province will soon rise in San Manuel town, a few kilometers from the San Roque Dam hydroelectric plant.
During a session of the provincial board last week, Hector Lim, a representative of Pilipinas Newton Energy Corp., said his company would build a 70-megawatt solar power plant on a 70-hectare area in the villages of San Bonifacio and San Roque.
Lim asked the board to endorse the project, one of two solar projects in the town. Last year, the San Manuel town council approved a 70-MW solar power plant, to be built by the Pilipinas Einstein Energy Corp., in Barangay Sto. Domingo.
According to the Department of Energy, it had awarded nine solar power projects in Pangasinan to different firms as of June 30.
The other solar power projects are in the towns of Manaoag, Labrador, Mapandan, Sta. Barbara, Burgos, Bugallon and Dasol and San Carlos City. —Gabriel Cardinoza
