Barangay chief, companion nabbed in Misamis Occidental for ‘shabu’ possession
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) authorities nabbed a barangay chief and her companion in Misamis Occidental on Saturday and seized from them P125,000-worth of crystal meth, locally known as shabu.
In a statement, PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Mary Ann Angcap, 41-year-old chairman of Barangay Labuyo, Tangub City, and her 51-year-old companion, Danilo Aballe.
Armed with a warrant, agents of the PDEA office in Northern Mindanao, conducted a search at around 2:30 p.m. at the suspects’ house and found four transparent plastic sachets containing 24 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P125,000. They also found a .45-caliber pistol with a magazine inserted containing eight rounds of ammunition.
Angcap and Aballe are facing charges in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act.
As a barangay official, Angcap will also be held liable for for an aggravating offense under Section 28 – Criminal Liability of Government Officials and Employees – of the anti-drug law. /atm
