THIEVES preying on parked vehicles struck anew in Mandaue City and carted away more than P100,000 in valuables.
The car break-in happened past 1 p.m. yesterday outside a fast food chain at the North Reclamation Area in barangay Subangdaku.
Couple Bendanillo and Mary Jojess Bendanillo of Vista Grand Subdivision, Talisay City and Phel Charmaine Luana of barangay Lawaan, Talisay were eating inside the food chain when burglars struck.
Taken from the Toyota Grandia with plate number YJH-818 owned by the Bendanillos were two .9mm pistols worth P100,000 and a laptop worth P45,000.
Thieves took a cell phone worth P7,000 from Luana’s Toyota Fortuner with plate number YFP-148.
Windows of the two cars which were parked beside each other were already smashed when the car owners went out of the food chain.
Police said a yellow multicab was seen parked at the back of the two cars before the break-in was discovered.
Insp. Ramil Morpos, chief of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Mandaue City police, said the same incident happened in the fastfood chain in the past. Management was invited by police to discuss security measures but did not show up.
Management was instructed to jot down the plate number of the vehicles parked outside the establishment and were also advised to install security cameras. Those were not followed, said Morpos./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
