President Rodrigo Duterte revealed Wednesday that his alleged bank records were from Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV’s “mistress” at the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
Duterte said a certain person surnamed Abad was the mistress of Trillanes.
“AMLC records were given to Trillanes by a certain Abad who is his mistress,” he told reporters in a Palace briefing.
Asked if he was referring to former AMLC executive director Julia Baccay-Abad, he replied, “Yung babae na nasa AMLC.”
Abad resigned as executive director on January 2017.
In a statement, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV denied Duterte’s claims that he hd a mistress at AMLC.
“I categorically deny itong huling imbentong storya ni Duterte. Nakakalungkot lang na meron pang nadadamay na ibang tao,” Trillanes said. “In this case, si Atty. Julia Bacay-Abad na kilala bilang isang disente at pamilyadong tao na naging propesyunal sa kanyang paglingkod bilang executive director ng AMLC.”
[I categorically deny this latest made-up story of Duterte. It saddens me that another person has been dragged into this issue. In this case, it’s Atty. Julia Bacay-Abad who is known to be a decent person with a family who conducted herself professional in her service as executive director of AMLC.]
The senator told Duterte not to veer away from the real issue.
“Mr. Duterte, wag mong daanin sa kabastusan ang pag-iwas mo sa tunay na isyu ng bilyun-bilyong pera mo sa bangko,” he said.
[Mr. Duterte, don’t resort to rudeness in your attempt to evade the issue of your billions in the bank.]
Trillanes has accused Duterte of amassing billions of unexplained wealth.
