The Philippines is set to receive guns and ammunition from China, the military has announced on Wednesday.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs chief Col. Edgard Arevalo said the Chinese government through Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua will turn over 3 million rounds of ammunition; 3,000 pieces of M4 rifles; and 30 sniper scopes to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Thursday.
According to Arevalo, the military paraphernalia is part of China’s P370 million-pledge to help the country combat terrorism.
Earlier, China gave sniper rifles and ammunitions also as part of the assistance. /kga
