NBI adopts ‘multipurpose clearance’ to cut red tape

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has adopted a standard clearance document to cut red tape and replace the 71 types that the NBI earlier issued for various purposes.

NBI public information officer Nick Suarez said the bureau started using the new “multipurpose” clearance on Monday to do away with 71 different versions.

Under the old system, an NBI clearance sought for travel purposes, for example, came in 36 types depending on the country of destination.

There were also different clearances for those applying for a gun license, membership in the Social Security System, etc. Their corresponding application fees also varied. —Aie Balagtas See
