HPG back on Edsa to help ease holiday traffic

/ 05:01 AM October 04, 2017

Almost a year after it was pulled out of Edsa, the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) of the Philippine National Police was redeployed on the country’s busiest thoroughfare to ease congestion as the holiday season nears.

Transport Undersecretary Tim Orbos said 60 HPG personnel would man various choke points along Edsa, with 20 of them posted on Tuesday from P. Tuazon to Connecticut-White Plains in Quezon City.

Orbos said the return of the HPG should help traffic constables of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority in managing the expected 20-percent increase in vehicle volume in Metro Manila during the Christmas season. —Jovic Yee
