Diesel prices up

Local pump prices of diesel rose today while those of gasoline were unchanged for the second straight week as developed countries saw oil demand outpacing global supply in the third quarter.

Oil firms added 45 centavos per liter to the price of diesel. Kerosene prices went up by 65 centavos per liter.

As of posting time on Monday, companies that announced price hikes included Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Flying V, PTT Philippines Corp., Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. and Seaoil Philippines Inc.

Those that sell kerosene include Shell, Flying V and Seaoil.

Based on data from the Department of Energy, the latest price changes would bring prices of diesel in Metro Manila to the range of P29.85 to P37.92 a liter at the pump.

Kerosene prices would now be in the range of P35.45 to P44.05 a liter.

Gasoline prices — with an octane rating of 95 — remained at P40.80 to P50.99 a liter. —Ronnel W. Domingo
