Most parts of the country will experience rain on Monday due to a low pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau said.

The LPA was last observed 245 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Metro Manila, the Bicol region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Mindanao, the Visayas and the province of Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Weather forecaster Samuel Duran said the LPA was not likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone, but it could gain strength after it crosses the West Philippine Sea.

Coastal waters throughout the country will be slight to moderate, Pagasa said. /cbb
