No suspension of number coding on Sept. 21— MMDA

The regular number coding will still be implemented this Thursday despite Malacañang’s suspension of work in government and classes in all public schools nationwide.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said plate numbers ending in 7 and 8 are not allowed on the road as scheduled.

“We still have regular coding tomorrow (September 21). But we will keep everyone updated if there will be changes,” the MMDA said in a post on Twitter.

President Rodrigo Duterte issued of Proclamation No. 319, declaring September 21 as a National Day of Protest. He suspended government work and public schools classes in anticipation of demonstrations to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the country.

Former President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, placing the entire archipelago under martial law, on September 21, 1972.  /kga
