LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A trailer truck, equipped with training modules on carpentry and electrical installation, rolled out on Monday, to provide free training for out-of-school youth and unemployed adults in Pangasinan province.
The truck will bring the provincial government’s mobile skills training program to these people, aged 18 to 45, so they need not leave their towns and cities, according to Gov. Amado Espino III.
Training for the first batch of 25 students will start on Sept. 25 in Bugallon town.
The truck will continue traveling to selected beneficiaries until Oct. 24 with the help of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) provincial office and the Liga ng mga Barangay provincial federation.
Alex Ferrer, head of the provincial employment services office, said his office would match the graduates of these courses with companies.
Those who complete their training might also opt to take certification tests at Tesda to enable them to qualify for employment abroad, he said. —Gabriel Cardinoza
