Pampanga cop in extort rap nabbed

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—A policeman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly extorting P30,000 in exchange for dropping a drug case against a resident in Magalang town in Pampanga province.

SPO1 Jessie Lopez was arrested in an entrapment inside a police station, on a complaint from Maricar Canlapan, whose husband, Roel, was supposedly held by the policeman and his suspected accomplice, another policeman, according to Supt. Michael Masangkay, head of Pampanga Provincial Public Safety Company.

“The money was demanded to settle the case,” Masangkay said. —TONETTE OREJAS
