The Manila City Health Department on Wednesday inspected a funeral home accredited by the police after receiving reports about decomposing corpses.
Bambi Purisima, city public information officer, said the embalmer of Archangel Funeral Homes, Alvin Ballesteros, denied the allegation.
Ballesteros said they were currently keeping 25 bodies, but these were in good condition.
All of the deceased have yet to be identified.
“That’s why we couldn’t bury them because, under the law, we have to keep unclaimed and unidentified corpses for two months before we bury them,” he said.
City health officials gave the funeral home six days to bury the unclaimed bodies. —Aie Balagtas See
