DID YOU KNOW: Galleon Trade lasted for 250 years

The historical Galleon Trade between the Philippines and Mexico which spanned 250 years began in 1565 and ended on Sept. 14, 1815.

Spanish sailing vessels made annual round trips across the Pacific between Manila and Acapulco, Mexico.

Carrying silver, gold, spices, silk and other goods, they used the route discovered by Fray Andres de Urdaneta, a well-known circumnavigator.

In Manila, they docked on Manila Bay and the goods were stored at the Almacenes Reales in Fort Santiago, Intramuros. Marielle Medina
