Boy drowns in Rizal river
SAN PEDRO CITY – A three-year-old boy drowned in a river in San Mateo town in Rizal province on Wednesday, authorities reported.
The body of Maro Jane Ayade was recovered from the San Mateo River around 11 a.m., according to an initial report from the municipal disaster command center. Ayade was identified by his parents.
But Rizal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Loel Malonzo clarified that the incident was not related to tropical depression “Maring.”
Malonzo said the child reportedly went for a bath in the river around 9 a.m. Wednesday. However, it was not immediately clear if there was anyone else with him or what circumstances led to the accident.
Weather has already improved after “Maring” dumped heavy rains and brought strong winds on Tuesday.
