Another body found in Laguna waterway after ‘Maring’

SAN PEDRO CITY – Search operations on Wednesday led to the recovery of another body believed to be among those who went missing in Calamba City in Laguna province at the height of Tropical Depression “Maring.”

Police said the body of Franzine Jade Mina Monge, 3, was found in a river in Barangay (village) Palingon around 11 a.m.

Monge was identified by her father Jofranz.

A report from the Laguna police said Monge drowned after their house in Barangay Parian was swept away by a swollen river early morning Tuesday. Earlier, local authorities also recovered the body of another victim, Lawrence Murillo.

It was not clear how Monge and Murillo were related but the Laguna Action Center earlier said they lived in the same house that was washed away by strong rain and river current.

Four people remain missing as of this writing.
