Close to 9,000 persons were affected by Tropical Storm “Maring” (international name: Doksuri), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday.
A total of 2,103 families or 8,793 persons were affected from 109 barangays (villages) in the National Capital Region and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangaz, Rizal, Quezon), a report from the disaster agency said.
Of these, 1,953 families or 7,938 persons were sheltered in evacuation centers.
Three were reported killed (2 in Tanay; 1 in Quezon from landslides) and five were reported missing in Laguna.

The NDRRMC also said 169 areas were flooded in NCR and Central Luzon due to rains dumped by Maring.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Office have stockpiles and standby funds worth P838,623830.73, it added. /idl
