Metro Manila accounted for 18.9 percent or 172 of the 910 leptospirosis cases reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to Aug. 5, 2017, according to the Department of Health.
The region had the highest number of cases during the period, followed by Davao Region with 12.3 percent or 112 cases.
Latest data from the DOH also showed 22 recorded deaths due to leptospirosis in Metro Manila during the period. —Marielle Medina
