Severe tropical storm poised to enter PAR on Monday

A severe tropical storm is poised to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

Talim (international name) was last spotted 1,655 kilometers east of Luzon. It will be locally named Lannie when it enters PAR, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 90 kph and gustiness of up to 115 kph. It moved west northwest at 25 kph.

Pagasa is also tracking a low pressure area 440 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte.

Metro Manila, Visayas, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Quezon and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA, Pagasa said.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies apart from isolated rains.
