Were the recent spate of bloopers on the website of the state-run Philippine News Agency (PNA) committed on purpose?
The National Bureau of Investigation will look into the possibility that a “disgruntled” male employee was behind the embarrassing errors, a Palace official said.
Undersecretary Joel Egco said he would formally ask the NBI on Monday to determine whether the bloopers were a “technical glitch,” or if they were deliberately done by this male employee “who felt bad” after being transferred to another section in the agency.
“I conducted a discreet probe and we got a name. He’s still inside but was transferred. He felt bad about it,” Egco said in an interview.
“He also has a circle of friends inside and I want to know if they were involved in the previous postings [of erroneous articles],” he said.
Egco declined to name the employee.
“I want to see the evidence so that I could fire him and file cases. But if I’m wrong and it was really a glitch, then okay, we’ll continue with our housecleaning,” Egco said.
Egco said his suspicion that there was sabotage was bolstered when someone with an IP address from Pasay City tried to access the new dashboard of the PNA on Friday night.
