Blast rocks band competition in Cotabato City
COTABATO CITY – A powerful blast rocked the comfort room of Rizal Park here while a band competition was on going Saturday night, police said.
No one was injured in the blast which occurred about 9:30 p.m., according to Superintendent Roberto Badian, city police chief.
He said it was fortunate that nobody was using the public comfort room when the explosion occurred.
Army and police bomb experts are still determining the make and kind of explosive planted by unidentified suspect while a bad contest was on going.
The explosion created a crater inside the comfort room located at the back stage.
The show was called off while police were still investigating the incident, the third in bombing attempt in Central Mindanao since Wednesday.
On Wednesday, an improvised bomb was found near a house in Kabacan, North Cotabato while another IED was detonated in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
No one has claimed responsibility in Saturday’s bomb attack but police believed the incident was related to the band performance.
