Diarrhea contained after Albay town closes tainted water source
OAS, Albay – The diarrhea cases in this town have been contained after health officials ordered the closure of a deep well in Purok (sub-village) 3 in Barangay (village) Badian here suspected to be contaminated.
Dr. Antonio S. Ludovice Jr., officer-in-charge of the Albay provincial health office, said laboratory results confirmed that the diarrhea was due to amoebiasis, acute gastroenteroritis secondary to E. coli infection and intestinal parasitism.
“Diarrhea case is now contained at Badian village” he said.
Mayor Domingo Escoto Jr. said water sanitation and filtering machine from provincial government was deployed in the affected area to ensure clean potable drinking water.
“We are working on patients’ hospitable bills using Philhealth and we might give financial assistance to victims,” he said.
He said a bottle of solution from Department of Health Region V was distributed to affected families to purify and kill the E. coli bacteria.

The Municipal Health Office is still monitoring the situation. CBB
