Rain forecast over Luzon due to LPA

A low pressure area (LPA) will bring rain to parts of Luzon on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

The LPA, estimated at 980 km east of Baler, Aurora will dampen the Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.

Pagasa weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the LPA was not expected to develop into a storm within the next 24 hours.

“Base sa mga datos na nakuha natin ngayong umaga, within 24 hours ay hindi pa naman po natin inaasahan na maging bagyo itong low pressure area,” Quitlong said in his weather report at 5 a.m.

(Based on data we gathered this morning, the LPA is not expected to develop into a storm within the next 24 hours.)

“‘Yun nga lang po itong advancing clouds the LPA ay makakaapekto na sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon,” he added.

(However, the advancing cloud of the LPA will affect the eastern part of Luzon.)

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa said it was also monitoring tropical storm “Mawar,” which is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at the extreme northern Luzon. It is not directly affecting the country. CBB
