Sept. 7, 1946

The province of Tayabas was renamed Quezon by virtue of Republic Act No. 14. The change in name was in honor of former President Manuel Quezon, a native of Baler, previously a part of Quezon province. In 1951, the town of Baler became the capital of Aurora, then a subprovince.

Sept. 7, 1968

The municipality of Bais in Negros Oriental province became a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 5444. Bais City, home of one of the oldest sugar centrals in the Philippines, is considered the largest producer of raw sugar in the province. Sugar mills such as Central Azucarera de Bais and United Robina Sugar Milling Corp. are found in the city.
