Rains to continue in Metro Manila, west PH due to ‘habagat’

Expect light to moderate rains and thunderstorms as the southwest monsoon or habagat continued to affect the western part of Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the monsoon will continue to prevail over Metro Manila, Mindoro province, the Cordillera region, and the rest of central and southern Luzon.

Moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms will continue to affect the Ilocos region, Batanes and Zambales provinces, and the Babuyan Group of Islands.

Tropical storm “Mawar,” which is outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), has strengthened the southwest monsoon, Pagasa said. The weather disturbance was last spotted 345 kilometers northwest of Laoag City. IDL
