3 hurt as motorcycle burst into flames upon collision in Isabela
REINA MERCEDES, ISABELA—A 17-year-old teenager and his two back riders were hurt when the motorcycle they were riding burst into flames after colliding with a van in Tallungan village here on Monday (Aug. 28), police and fire officials said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Mac Kian Sabrido, 17, was treated for first-degree burns while his passengers Richard Sevilla, 26, and Ruzzel Bernardo, 18, suffered bruises and contusions, when they crashed into a van driven by Richard Soriano, 30.
The motorcycle burst into flames upon impact.
Police investigators said Sabrido was tested positive for driving under the influence of alcohol and was also found driving without license.
In a report by Senior Fire Officer 1 Norwin Stephen Jacobo to fire marshal Reina Mercedes disclosed that the sparks from the motorcycle’s metal step bar hitting the pavement ignited the gasoline leaking from its tank.
The victims were brought to the Isabela United Doctors Medical Center for treatment. JPV
