3 killed, 2 hurt in Pangasinan road accidents

DAGUPAN CITY — Three people were killed while two others were hurt in three separate road accidents on Saturday and Sunday in Pangasinan province, police said.

Rodrigo Vinuya, 58, was crossing the Manila North Road traversing Barangay (village) San Nicolas in Villasis town at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday when he was hit by a southbound truck.

Vinuya, who suffered head injuries, was taken to a hospital in Urdaneta City but did not make it alive.

Truck driver Amado Torres, 51, is now detained at the Villasis police station.

In San Jacinto town, Marvin Velasquez, 32, was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a steel sign board in Barangay Santa Maria at 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Velasquez lost control of his motorcycle as he negotiated a blind curve along the national highway.

Velasquez had head injuries and was taken to a hospital in Mapandan town but did not survive.

In Santa Maria town, Estanislao Esteves, 39, was hit by a speeding motorcycle as he crossed the road in Barangay Libsong at 10:05 a.m. Saturday.

He was taken to a hospital in Tayug town but a doctor there declared him dead on arrival.

The motorcycle driver, Ginebra Tominez, 43, and his back rider Angelica Tominez, 16, were taken to the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug for treatment. JE
