Better weather on Sunday – Pagasa

The weather bureau forecasts better weather in the whole country starting today with Tropical Storm “Jolina” (international name: “Pakhar”) moving away from the Philippine landmass and area of responsibility (PAR) yesterday.

In a press briefing on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Jolina had crossed the Luzon mainland by yesterday morning. By 2 p.m., the center of the storm was already crossing the PAR line.

As of 5 p.m., all tropical cyclone warning signals and gale warnings had been lifted across the country, Pagasa weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

The southwest monsoon, however, continues to affect Central and southern Luzon, Aurelio said. Light to moderate and possibly heavy rains due to thunderstorms would prevail over the Ilocos region and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan and Metro Manila.

But Aurelio said the monsoon would also be moving away from PAR on the heels of Jolina starting today.

That means the whole country will start to experience good weather, with partly cloudy skies and only isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms later in the day, Aurelio said. —Jaymee T. Gamil
