Senator Sherwin Gatchalian was brought to the hospital after he complained of dizziness in the middle of a budget hearing on Wednesday.

According to Ahna Mejia, Gatchalian’s staff, the senator was brought to a Makati City hospital after he felt dizzy during the hours-long budget hearing at the Senate.

A Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report quoted Mejia as saying it could be because Gatchalian lacked sleep and rest.

On Thursday night, Gatchalian said he has been discharged from the hospital.

He also thanked his well wishers and assures he would return to work “very soon.”

“I have been discharged from the hospital and am now recovering at home with my family. Thank you to everyone who expressed their concern and sent their prayers. I am truly touched by the outpour of support. Rest assured that there is nothing to worry about regarding my health. I just need some time to rest and recharge, but I am looking forward to returning to work at the Senate very soon. God bless everyone!” Gatchalian said in a text message.
