A passenger van parked on the bank of the Marikina river was swamped by rising water on Tuesday as people helplessly watched, radio reports said.
A Radyo Inquirer video posted on Twitter showed an unattended van slowly getting submerged by river water that rose to 16 meters following several days of intermittent heavy rain in Metro Manila.
People can also be seen standing on a concrete platform nearby while watching the van go under water.
The southwest monsoon, which is being enhanced by Tropical Storm “Isang,” has been dumping heavy rain on the metropolis.
