Judge in Sunvar case leads nominees for Sandiganbayan post

A Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge, who ordered Sunvar Realty Development Corp. to leave a contested prime property in Makati City in favor of the government, is on her way to becoming a member of the Sandiganbayan.

Presiding Judge Mary Ann Corpus-Mañalac of Makati RTC Branch 141 led the list of nominees submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte by the Judicial and Bar Council to succeed Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Samuel Martires who was designated magistrate of the Supreme Court, making him Mr. Duterte’s first appointee in the 15-member tribunal.

Also on the shortlist of applicants were Antipolo City RTC Judge Kevin Narce Vivero, Malolos City RTC Judge Olivia Escubio-Samar, Quezon City RTC Judge Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya and lawyer Josephine Caranzo. —Marlon Ramos
