Trike driver killed in Pangasinan road accident

DAGUPAN CITY — A 70-year-old tricycle driver was killed while his three passengers were hurt Saturday when their vehicle crashed into a ricefield in Binmaley town in Pangasinan province.

Ernesto Soriano was unconscious when rescuers took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

His passengers, Jackyline Malicdem, 26, Hildrich Catabay, 18, and Faye Curameng, 17, suffered injuries and were treated in different hospitals.

Police said the tricycle was on the northbound lane of the Binmaley-San Carlos Road in Barangay (village) Papagueyan at 7:09 a.m. when its front tire burst.
