DAGUPAN CITY — The body of a 10-year-old boy, who went missing four days ago after being swept by the Agno River in Bayambang town, was found dead in the river traversing Urbiztondo town.
Gary Galsim, a Grade 4 pupil, was identified by his parents, who proceeded to Barangay (village) Galarin in Urbiztondo after police informed them that they recovered the remains at 11:30 a.m.
Galsim and four other children took a dip in the Agno River at Barangay Bacnono in Bayambang town at about 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.
One of the children told investigators that as he was putting his clothes on at 6:30 p.m., he saw Galsim struggling before disappearing in the water.
Rescuers immediately launched a search operation but failed to find the boy.
Galsim was found 20 kilometers from where he and the children went for the swim.
Agno River, Pangasinan’s longest river, cuts through 16 towns and cities before merging with the Lingayen Gulf in Lingayen town. CBB
