Boy with gun arrested in PNP bigtime raid in Pasig; 195 nabbed

The Pasig City police arrested a 16-year old boy for carrying a caliber. 38 revolver during their one-time, bigtime operation that started early morning Saturday that yielded 195 suspects.

Based on a spot report, the boy was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Saturday along Magsaysay Street, Barangay Mangahan.

Investigator Police Officer 3 Danilo Damasco said police saw the .38 caliber revolver in the boy’s waist and accosted him. The gun was loaded with five bullets.

As of 7:35 a.m. on Sunday, 14 had been arrested for violation of the anti-drugs law, 18 for illegal gambling, 40 for drinking in public, 35 for smoking, 82 for being half-naked in public, and five for outstanding warrants of arrest.

One suspect was killed.

Rodolfo Cruz, 24, of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Pasig City, was killed in a buy-bust operation at MMDA Pump 21, Eastbank Road, Floodway, in Sta. Lucia.

Police said Cruz sold shabu PO1 Sherwin Gagtan, who acted as a buyer.

Noticing that the buyer had a gun, Cruz allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot at the undercover lawman.

Gagtan retaliated and hit the suspect, who was brought to Pasig City General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Bryan Cagayao.

Authorities recovered six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, the buybust money, a .38 caliber Armscor with five live bullets and one fired cartridge case.
