MANILA, Philippines — Seven people were hurt as a grenade lobbed by suspected members of the New People’s Army exploded at a military checkpoint in Panabo City Friday, an official said.
The explosion occurred at the Army’s 69th Infantry Battalion in Barangay (village) San Roque around 6:30 p.m., said Colonel Leopoldo Galon, Eastmincom spokesman.
Four soldiers, one militiaman, and two civilians were wounded and taken to Rivera Hospital in Panabo City, said Galon.
