SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna—A two-hour fire hit a residential area in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province early Saturday and left around 20 families homeless.
Fire Officer 4 Timotheo Soriano Jr. of the city fire department said they are still investigating the cause of the fire, initially reported to have started on the second floor of a two-story apartment in Barangay (village) Kanluran.
The fire broke out around midnight and was put out past 2 a.m. It razed 15 other houses, most of them made of light and old materials.
“We had some difficulty penetrating the area because there was a live wire,” Soriano said in a phone interview.
Soriano said investigation continues to see if a faulty electrical wiring caused the blaze.
Residents quickly escaped and no one was reported hurt in the incident.
