Gunmen seize Manila trader in Maguindanao
COTABATO CITY—Unidentified gunmen seized a Manila-based businessman who was visiting Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, on Thursday, police said yesterday.
Chief Supt. Beinvenido Latag, police director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said authorities were immediately alerted about the kidnapping of Dominador Berdin around 3 p.m. and launched a rescue operation that led to the arrest of two suspects.
But Latag said the other suspects managed to flee with Berdin, who was described as a gold trader.
