Vice-President Leni Robredo has joined the clamor for transparency in the decisions of the Commission on Appointments, a day after the rejection of Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo.
We would prefer for the process to be more transparent, so we know more why there’s rejection),” Robredo said in a press conference in Naga City on Thursday.
She said the “frustration” over the rejection of Taguiwalo’s appointment came from the fact that she failed to hurdle the powerful commission’s approval despite public knowledge of her pro-poor advocacies.
She also said Filipinos should express “outrage” on the CA’s decision.
It’s important that when things like this happen, we express outrage, so the attention of people or offices who have mandates are called out so their mandates are not being abused),” she said.
On the other hand, Robredo said the CA should still be respected as a “check-and-balance mechanism” on the President’s power to appoint. JE
