LUCENA CITY – A suspected drug pusher was killed in an alleged shootout with lawmen in San Andres town in Quezon province early Wednesday, police said.

Police Officer 2 Ikee Genton, San Andres police investigator, said Joseph Reymond Moseros was shot dead after he engaged policemen who were about to serve a search warrant at his house in Barangay (village) Mangero at about 3 a.m.

“He just opened fired at the policemen who were forced to retaliate to defend themselves,” Genton said in a phone interview. Moseros died on the spot while no one was hurt among the lawmen.

The authorities recovered a caliber .38 revolver and at least four small plastic sachets of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from Moseros.

Moseros, who earlier surrendered to authorities in the government’s war on illegal drugs, was listed as number three in the list of local drug personalities.

“He is a notorious drug pusher,” Genton said.
