DAGUPAN CITY—Two persons died while three others were injured on Monday (Aug. 14) in four separate road accidents in Pangasinan province.
Tricycle driver Jesus Serafica, 50, was traversing the northbound lane of the Manila North Road in Barangay (village) Sumabnit in Binalonan town at about 10 p.m. when a speeding vehicle hit the tricycle’s rear end.
Serafica was thrown off his vehicle and was declared dead by the time he reached the hospital in Urdaneta City, where he was taken.
His passenger, Josephine Garcia, 38, was released from the hospital after she was treated for injuries.
In San Carlos City, Genorosa Ferrer, 39, was on her way home to Barangay Balite Sur at about 5 p.m. when she fell off the tricycle ferrying her and was killed.
Police said Ferrer was seated at the back of the driver and they were traversing the village road in Barangay Bacnar when the accident took place.
More than five hours later, in Barangay San Juan, a man who was on a mobile telephone was hit by a motorcycle.
Edmundo Jamito, 28, suffered injuries and was treated in a hospital.
The motorcycle driver, Ariel Pabuna, 21, who was arrested, did not have a valid driver’s license and was not wearing a helmet.
In Binmaley town, Leomar Paragas, 28, was driving his motorcycle along Barangay Poblacion shortly after midnight when he was sideswiped by a red sedan. Paragas suffered minor injuries. JPV
