Patricia Bautista can apply for WPP – Aguirre
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Monday said the estranged wife of Commission on Elections (Comelec) chair Andres Bautista can seek government security under the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
“She can come to us and apply for WPP. We can provisionally provide protection while assessing her affidavit,” Aguirre said on Monday as noted that he learned from reports that Patricia Bautista has been receiving death threats.
Mrs. Bautista accused her husband of having about P1-billion hidden wealth. She claimed that her husband has more than 30 bank accounts, offshore accounts, investments and properties which were not declared in his statement of assets, liabilities and networth.
Bautista has declared a P176.3 million total net worth in 2016.
The Comelec chair is already subject of an investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
